The fire pit built for your boat.
The only patented fire pit designed for safe use on boats. 30,000 BTUs of heat, four cupholders, side-pod coolers and a table top. The 20lb tank stores inside. Turn, click, and the sunset cruise is lit.
Built for the pontoon.
Ready for everything else.
We designed it for boats first, because a boat is the hardest place to put a fire: wind, waves, tight space and a crowd reaching for their drinks. It solves all of that, then carries off the boat to wherever the night goes.
Designed to kick out plenty of heat to keep the boat cruise warm.
Lightweight yet durable plastic design makes it one person carriable.
A single 20lb propane tank will last 20+ hours on full blast.
Backyard fire pit vs. Floating Flame
A backyard fire pit was never meant to leave the backyard. On a boat you've got wind, waves, vinyl seats and a crowd reaching for their drinks. Here's the difference:
Built for the water
Wind
Flames get blown around or blown out once the boat is moving
Wind was the first problem we solved. "It doesn't blow out the flame going 35 mph down the lake."
Staying put
Slides and tips when you hit a wake
Rubber feet and the tank stored inside for a low center of gravity
Sparks & embers
Wood throws sparks and ash onto the seats and carpet
Propane: no sparks, ash or embers
Materials
Built for a patio, not the water
Marine grade stainless with a flame-retardant, UV protected shell
Shutting it off
Wait for it to burn down
Turn the knob and the flame is out

Table top, 4 cupholders, side pods used as coolers, garbage or storage
It started on my boat.
I bought a fire pit for my boat in 2016. When I sold that boat in 2022, people asked more about the fire pit than the boat; light bulb business idea moment. The company I bought it from had shut down, so I bought the design and rebuilt it from the ground up.
I added tons of cool features. Rubber feet so it doesn't slide. A thick flame-retardant, UV protected plastic shell. Cupholders and coolers because a boat never has enough. And handles, because I took my Flame with me everywhere.
I hope you enjoy your Floating Flame as much as I have over the years!

First on in Spring.
Last off in Fall.
Cool spring and fall nights are when most boats head in. Owners tell us the Flame is how they extend their season and spend more hours out on the water.
Allows the season to start early and end later, great investment for your Pontoon.Shawn S. · Nova Scotia
Lets us use the pontoon many more hours. Great for taking the chill off the sunset hours!Kathy T. · Minnesota
Is it safe on a boat? In one word: yes.
It's the first question every boater asks. Marine propane grills have been on boats for 75+ years. The Floating Flame works on the same idea, without the grease fires, and it was over-engineered with several layers of safety built in.

What boat owners say
It's very well-made and heavy enough that it does not move around while underway.
Scott D. Verified ownerIt's also very stable, no tipping at all, even when there are quite a few waves on my lake.
Sebastien Verified ownerThe perfect addition to our 22’ Bennington… aside from being an attention getter, it was also great for a little warmth during our romantic sunset cruise.
Shannon B. Verified ownerBoating questions
Is it safe to use on a boat?
Yes! It was designed specifically for boats. The propane components are UL listed, the shell is thick flame-retardant plastic, and the original prototype was tested on the water for over 8 years before going to market. It works like a marine propane grill, without the grease fire risk.
Does it need to be bolted down?
The Floating Flame does not need to be bolted down. It has rubber feet like a Yeti cooler to prevent it from sliding. With the addition of the propane tank the unit has additional weight to stay planted and the tank also gives a very low center of gravity.
Does it stay put while the boat is moving?
It sits on rubber feet, and the tank stores inside the base for a low center of gravity. Owners tell us it stays in place underway.
How does it handle waves or large wakes?
The Floating Flame is not going to tip when hitting waves. It was designed and tested on Lake Michigan (5th largest lake in the world). It has rubber feet like a cooler to prevent it from sliding. With the addition of the propane tank the unit has additional weight to stay planted and the tank also gives a very low center of gravity.
How does it do in the wind?
Wind was the first problem we solved for. One owner put it this way: “It doesn't blow out the flame going 35 mph down the lake.”
How warm does it get?
The 30,000 BTU fire pit was designed to keep the entire front half of a large pontoon boat warm. The driver even gets some heat when you're on a slow sunset cruise!
What fuel does it use, and how long does a tank last?
A standard 20lb propane grill tank, which stores inside the unit. A full tank lasts about 20 hours on high, and longer on lower settings.
