Poor Build Quality - Save your $

I purchased the floating flame in July, 2025. I originally learned about Floating Flame from an ad on social media - intrigued by the product I watched several YouTube videos and checked out the company website. I live in the Rocky Mountain region so the majority of my time is spent boating in high alpine lake environments. I figured the Floating Flame would offer some nice ambiance and warmth on cool summer nights.

After owning the product and using it for the summer here is my honest review.

    Pros:
    - The unit puts out a nice flame which provides a nice amount of warmth and ambiance.
    - The stainless steel removable cover does a nice job of keeping the glass rocks in place.
    - It's a fun communal activity and conversation starter

    Cons:
    - The build quality is very poor in my opinion for the price point. The videos I watched talked about a premium durable construction similar to a Yeti cooler. In actuality it's a thin, flimsy plastic body with cheap hinges. I was immediately disappointed when I opened the package.
    - The stainless steel top also has a poor fit and finish especially at the interior radius corners.
    - It's too big and bulky to fit comfortably on a wake boat - especially if the cup holder side-saddles are installed. I have a 26' Mastercraft - I ended up ditching the cup holders and just using the main fire pit body so that it would more comfortably.

Summary: For the price-point I expected build quality like Yeti and stainless steel finishes similar to Solo Stove - PREMIUM brand level. It's nowhere close to that. This an entry-level build quality with a premium brand price. Save your money.

    Is It Safe!?

In one word; YES! One of the first questions we get asked is if a fire pit on a boat is safe. We can't speak to other products but ours was specifically designed to be safe on boats. First, marine propane grills have been used for 50 years and can have out of control grease fires. Our product is similar in concept to a marine grill but without the out of control grease fire potential!

We understand the concern because it's a new concept however rest assured it's been over engineered and thoroughly tested. The original prototype has actually been tested on the water for 8 years now. All the plastic material is very thick and flame retardant while all the propane components are UL listed. All this have been done to have multiple levels of safety built into the design.

      Propane Powered

We designed the Floating Flame to use a standard 20lb gas grill propane tank or 1lb camping tank that can be purchased at almost every gas station and hardware store; more convenient than finding dry wood or chopping down a tree! At full blast a 20lb tank will last 20+ hours of usage. Many places (tailgates, beaches, etc) don't allow wood burning fire pits. However, with with the Floating Flame you're only limited by your imagination...

      Easy Use

If you can operate a gas grill you can operate the Floating Flame! Simply pop a standard gas grill propane tank into the unit, connect the regulator and open the tank valve. You're good to go! Whenever you want to fire up your Flame turn on the valve on the side of the unit and press the igniter. Just like that, you have created fire!

      Wood-Less

Safer, easier, cheaper and greener than wood burning fire pits. No flying sparks, lighter fluid or hot coals. Simply turn the gas on and ignite the Flame. $20 worth of store bought wood will last a couple hours while a $20 propane tank will last 20+ hours! Wood burning fire pits also emit up to 4,000% more emissions than propane fire pits. Go green, go Flame!

      Integrated Cupholders

Probably the most under valued design feature. We 3D printed many many designs to get the fit just right. All 4 cup holders were designed to fit a Yeti tumbler, beer can or seltzer can. Whatever you're drinking, the Floating Flame will be able to handle it!

      Built-In Cooler

This was something we came up with late in development. We have a big, unused, water tight pod that's not being used. What could we use it for we asked ourselves? A place to keep our drinks cold! And with that an idea was born. Each of the two side pods can hold up to 12 beer cans and ice to keep them cold. Once your day is done simply open up the drain at the bottom to full drain the melted ice.

The Floating Flame might have just saved my marriage. Summer nights in Wisconsin can get quite chilly and my lovely wife usually wanted to head in before I was finished with my last lake beer of the day. With the Floating Flame she stays warm while I stay buzzed. Love this thing!
